According to TURKSTAT data, housing sales decreased by 17.5 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year and amounted to 1 million 225 thousand 926. It is getting more and more difficult to own a house. On the other hand, statistics show that in the first 10 months of 2023, land, field and commercial real estate sales reached an all-time high January-October period figure of 1 million 426 thousand 146 units. The province with the highest number of house sales was Istanbul with 18 thousand 814, followed by Ankara with 9 thousand 861 and Antalya with 6 thousand 306. The least sales were realized in Bayburt with 37, Ardahan with 46 and Hakkari with 60.
On the other hand, statistics show that in the first 10 months of 2023, land, field and commercial real estate sales reached an all-time high of 1 million 426 thousand 146 units in the January-October period. While the share of non-residential real estate in total sales reached 58.9 percent for the first time, this rate broke a record in October and became 62.2 percent. Despite the decline in housing, the rise in other types of real estate means that different alternatives for home ownership are becoming widespread in Turkey.
